Third-Party Obligations and Liabilities for Medicaid Payments
States must take all reasonable measures to determine any liable third-party, and many have established administrative personnel or units to assure that all of the resident's private medical resources have been accessed and exhausted before a Medicaid claim is paid.
Housing - Federal Public Housing Programs - § 221d Mortgage Insurance For Multifamily Properties
The § 221(d) program provides low-interest, fixed-rate mortgage insurance to housing developers for either construction or rehabilitation of rental units occupied by low-income families. Certain requirements must be met regarding the size and type of units, and only certain individuals and families are eligible to live in units developed under § 231.
Veterans Benefits - Eligibility
A successful applicant for veterans benefits must either have been discharged other than dishonorably from active military service or must have provided specific services related to the military. To qualify as "active military service," a service member must have provided full-time service to the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, or Coast Guard, or he or she must have served as a commissioned officer of certain federal agencies.
Annuity Contract Considerations
The formation and validity of an annuity policy or contract is determined in the same way as a standard contract. The annuity policy must be supported by consideration (unless it is a charitable gift annuity or the annuity involves a bequest). The parties to the annuity contract must have legal capacity to contract.
